A Fat Quarter Friendly Quilt Pattern
Fat Quarter Stars is a modern quilt pattern that can be made with fat quarters. It was designed and written for beginner quilters or those looking for a speedy project. With just 8 FQs and some background fabric, you can make the throw quilt!
What is a Fat Quarter?
A fat quarter (sometimes shortened to FQ) is a pre-cut of fabric measuring approximately 18" x 21". Quilting cotton is usually 42" wide from selvage to selvage. A yard is 36" long, so if you were to cut a quarter of a yard, you would have a 9" x 42" piece of fabric, which is quite long and narrow.
Lots of quilt patterns need cuts wider than 9". So, instead of cutting the yard four times from selvage to selvage, cut it once horizontally and once vertically, creating four “fat” quarters instead of four “narrow” quarters.

Where is my pattern download?
If you’ve purchased a downloadable PDF quilt pattern from us and are unable to find a download link in your email, we recommend checking your spam, junk, or promotions folders. If you have an account on our website and were logged in during checkout, you can also access your pattern there at any time. If you do not find it in any of these places, email us at [email protected].
Can I get a refund?
If you have made a duplicate pattern purchase, we can offer you a different pattern of equal value for 60 days after your purchase. Please contact us if you have accidentally purchased a pattern more than one time and let us know which replacement pattern you would like. Include your order number and the email address used when making your purchase.
Refunds are not provided on digital products since there is no way for a digital item to be returned to us.
