    Hi,
I have been following you on Instagram, and I love your patterns and tips. I have been sewing children’s clothing for awhile, and I am just starting to realize how amazing quilting can be. Instagram inspiration has completely transformed my mind on quilting (I used to just think of quilting as a grandma hobby). Thanks for the inspiration and free quilt pattern!
Also, if you have never read the children’s book “The Keeping Quilt”, it reminds me of your Bohemian Garden Quilt. As I have watched your process on the Bohemian Garden Quilt, it seems to me that it is the perfect quilt to make with a group of people you love to cherish and pass down for generations.

  31. Jennifer Peters says:

Hey Susie. I’ve started quilting last year and your blog is one of the first pieces of info that really explains details a beginner needs. I’m hang out of YouTube platform most of the time and just yesterday I saw some of your videos. (I’m buying a clapper) lol. But my question: when tearing fabric to get on grain, does fabric have to be prewashed? I have a deer panel I’m turning into a queen size. I’m drafting Aztec designs for top and bottom of panel and I need my strips straight. My guess is to wash the panel and all, then tear solids to get on grain. But in this case I’m not sure. Help

    • Suzy Quilts says:

I suggest prewashing if you want to tear your fabric. Prewashing helps the threads lose the stretch and warp they get while wrapped around a bolt of fabric. It sounds like you aren’t planning on ripping around the panel and I think that’s a great idea. Fabric is not always printed on grain and I’d hate for part of your panel to get ripped off.

  32. Kathleen Nagel says:

Thank you for the free pattern. I am getting ready to start your Bird Watching quilt using Charley Harper’s fabric. Waiting for my last piece of fabric.

  33. Jessica Olney says:

I love the patterns here and thank you for the free one! I am going to make the Shine quilt for my husband. I have made a lot of blankets, mostly knit and crochet, and have only just been quilting since this Spring but I am now a quilting addict. My husband is always taking everyone else’s throw blankets I have made, so this one will be for him! I love the graphic look of the blocks and can’t wait to see how the colors I chose turn out! I’ll add the free pattern to my “to do” list!

  34. Eileen W says:

Thank you for the pattern and the inspiration! I’m very new to quilting and working on Squared (which is very forgiving for beginners, thank you!). I’ve sewed for years, but never quilted until this summer. Absolutely love your designs and style. So much to learn! Thank you again.

  35. Sonja Vinson says:

I like all your patterns but I am behind a special pattern “Aztec quilt” I would like to bye it and if its possible as kit it would be wonderful, but I am laky if I only get the pattern. Thanks a lot for helping me.

How can I get the coat with hood pattern. I have 150 quilts&tops but have not found a good jacket w/ hood pattern.
Something simple, with no darts .

Hi Nora! Brittney, our guest blogger for the hooded adult coat post, uses her own pattern, which is not available for sale. However, she suggests Simplicity 8298 and New Look 6585 are other great hooded coat options to check out!
