In The Beginning
I have now been quilting for exactly half of my life. I started at the impressionable age of 15 and am now...ahum...well, you can do the math 🙂 I wasn't exactly a "cool kid" back then. Let me paint a quick picture.

A radical, equality-love’n, girl-power karate-kick’n feminist (I’m not totally sure karate has anything to do with feminism, but it sounded good in the moment).

Quilts come in all shapes and sizes. As far as quilts are concerned, there is no “right” size. Some are square, some rectangular, and some of mine have accidentally become rhombus in shape. This post includes a clear quilt sizes chart to visually show standard quilt sizes as well as standard quilt batting.
Quilting with denim was a new and, to be honest, scary thing for me to try. I was taught that to be a good little quilter, you must always use lightweight 100% cotton. That cotton also should probably be purchased from a bona fide quilting shop.
I don't technically live in a log cabin, but I did recently move to a home that has a fireplace...so yeah. I pretty much live in a log cabin. Which is AMAZING for my quilt street cred cause the Log Cabin quilt block is one of the most well-known and popular of all patchwork patterns!
