Hey quilty friend, are you up for trying some simple free motion quilting scallops with me? These rolling hills or "organic scallops" are one of my favorite free motion quilting motifs. Why? Because you don't need to spend time drawing guide marks and once you get into a rhythm they are incredibly fast to sew.

You did it! Through cutting, sewing, trimming, lots of pinning and then even more sewing and trimming, YOU DID IT! Quiltketeers, you made it to the final week of the Gather sew along. Give yourself a big hug, hold your chin up high and proudly proclaim, I'M AWESOME!
Week SIX of our Gather sew along! Can you believe it? Homestretch, Quiltketeers! This week we build the foundation of our quilt top, or quilt house, as I like to think about it. Gather is unique in the way we build it from the bottom up.
Heeeeey-oh. Hey hey heeey-oh! Quiltketeers, we're already in Week 5 of our Gather sew along! Even though the intensely bright and somewhat claustrophobic snowscape outside my window hasn't changed much over the last few weeks, I still see that a lot of progress has been made on this quilt and we are zipping on through!
My quilty friends, this week in our sew along I have a two-for-one post dedicated completely to the simple HST. In Weeks 3 and 4 of the Gather sew along we make all of our HSTs. There are a few different ways to do this, so read on if you enjoy a good buffet of options.
Hello my lovelies and welcome to the second week of our Gather quilt sew along! This week we are cut, cut cutting! The Gather quilt involves simple strip cutting and then sub-cutting, so all you need is a basic ruler, cutting mat, and a rotary cutter with a sharp blade (no dull blades allowed!)
It's Week 1 of the Gather quilt sew along and I'm so glad you're here! This is an exciting quilt pattern because it uses a well-known quilt block, the half square triangle, but in a fresh new way.
During this community sew along we will make the throw size Gather quilt.
How to trim half square triangles is a basic quilting skill that, at least at some point in your quilting career, you will probably have to figure out. There are different ways to sew, press and trim half square triangles, but let me tell you, as someone who has made thousands of these wonderful blocks, I have recently landed on a favorite way to do it.
New year, new quilts! It's time to launch the first SQ sew along of 2021. Hip hip HOORAY! The Gather quilt pattern, the fourth pattern release of 2020, builds on a lot of the skills gained through making the previous three patterns – Grow, Thrive and Shine.
