Before telling you about Meesh Quilts and the exciting mission of this new textiles company, I first want to share with you about a beautiful person I got to know over the last year.
Michelle Collins popped onto my radar early last year when she reached out on Instagram asking if she could be a quilt pattern tester. Without much thought I said yes and then she proceeded to make such beautiful quilts that I asked if she would make pattern samples for me. (Because now that I mom full time I rarely have time to sew! But that's for another blog post...)
This Stars Hollow quilt and Glitter and Glow quilt are just a couple examples of her work. Every time I received a quilt from her I knew that it would be impeccably sewn with matching points and tidy seams, and that I could count on her to make it FAST. (Girl, I still don't know how you pull that off being a mom of two small kids!)
When Michelle decided to launch her new business venture, Meesh Quilts, she was almost repentant when she told me she no longer had time to sew for me. Friends, I knew from the moment I started working with her that she was too good to be true, so now that she is moving on to new and exciting things, I wish her all the best. AND I want you to know about what she's doing too!
Meesh Quilts: Making Quilts for a Cause
Meesh Quilts teaches new moms to sew and gives them an instant community of other moms in the same life stage. Through making and selling quilts, these moms are able to earn money as well as feel empowered and connected.
The first series of four quilts released is called the Rainbow Village quilt collection. These quilts are currently available for pre-order, but because I know a gal, I was able to sneak this one early. Isn't it cute?
Even though I think customers will buy these scrumptious beauties for babies, they are larger than your average baby quilt, so they can grow with the child. Measuring 40" x 50" they fit snugly on a toddler bed or folded up at the foot of a twin bed.
Each quilt is made with super soft 100% cotton fabric and a poly batting with the perfect amount of loft. I'm really not exaggerating when I say that I loooove this batting/quilting combo. It's got just the right amount of puff, without getting too puffy too look dated. Know what I mean?
I'm not sure how long these prices are going to stay this low, but currently you can place an order for one of these Rainbow Village quilts for only $165 + free shipping. Here's a direct link to mine, the Dark colorway.
