The Holiday Party quilt pattern is now available! Grab the PDF download for this fantastic fat-quarter quilt pattern NOW! Even though this pattern is listed as "Moderate" in terms of skill level, I am confident a relatively experienced beginner can successfully make this design.

Before we dive into the potentially tricky bits, let's list out all of the exciting things this pattern includes!

The Holiday Party Quilt Pattern Includes:

  • A detailed 46 minute video on making Holiday Party block. (You can skip around to the parts you need if you don't want to watch the whole thing.)
  • Fabric requirements and instructions for making a multi-color version with fat quarters or a limited-color version with yardage.
  • Helpful FQ cutting diagrams so you can make the most of your fabric.

  • A blank coloring sheet to help you decide on fabric.
  • 12 different color mock-ups to spark your creativity!

Holiday Party Quilt Pattern Skill Level - Moderate

As I mentioned before, this Holiday Party quilt pattern is written for those with a "Moderate" skill level. There are three elements to this pattern that make the skill level slightly more difficult than other SQ patterns labeled as "Easy."

  1. These blocks use more pieces. I truly believe that as you make these party blocks you will feel huge amounts of satisfaction. Each one is beautiful, unique, and a stand-alone work of skill and creativity!
  2. There is some unique trimming that must be done precisely. This is covered in the video, but if you are brand new to quilting, this will be very different than what you're used to.
  3. These blocks have a lot of seams to match. I have every confidence that you can do it – especially if you take your time and press the same way as the pattern and video instructs.

Holiday Party Helpful Notions

But quilty friends, you know I'm not going to leave you to figure out these potentially tricky bits alone! Nay! In addition to the sew along that starts on October 12, here are a few tools that will make your Holiday Party a bit easier and more fun...

This wintery blue Holiday Party throw quilt was made by Kim Vogelsang. Kim says, "I love this quilt pattern so much I wanted to be able to use this quilt all winter long, not just during the holidays. This lead me to choose fabrics that are more "wintery" than "Christmasy" but still give the quilt a little sparkle, which is where the Essex Metallic Linen comes in.

I also thought it would be cool to include as many local elements in this quilt as possible. I chose designer Amanda Castor's Winterland fabric collection because in addition to being perfect for my "wintery theme," she's also from Indiana, my home state!

Crimson Tate, the fabric shop where I got this collection, is also in Indiana as well as the longarm quilter, Heather Alexander. Heck, I think I should just expand on that idea and call it a "regional " quilt to include Suzy, the pattern designer, because she's just over the border in Chicago!

After quickly selling out, this kit will be available again soon at Crimson Tate. You can reach out to the shop directly to be added to a pre-order list.

Pastel Holiday Party Quilt

Next up is another beautiful example of the multi-color fat quarter version. Laura Hopper collaborated with the fabric shop, Global Fiber Textiles & Notions, to make a scrumptious pastel Holiday Party quilt.

Laura is the queen of cozy and opted for beautifully textured fabrics including Essex linen, double-brushed flannel (oooh la la!) and shot cotton, in addition to some quilt-weight poplin. The backing fabric is from the collection Little Town by Amy Sinibaldi for Art Gallery Fabrics.

You can pre-order a kit to make this exact quilt here.

Longarm quilting was done by Winberie Quilting, using an edge-to-edge design called Modern Tile. This is a great quilting design if you want to keep this quilt on display all year round rather than seasonally.
