Join the Modern Fans quilt pattern sew-along for a chance to win a BERNINA 350 sewing machine along with other amazing prizes!

We are almost over the hill in our Modern Fans Quilt Sew-Along! Welcome to week 4. This week we're simply doing the same thing as last week – sewing 14 blocks. At this point you most likely have your fabric picked and templates cut, but you know what? Even if you don't, there's still time for you to catch up.

To tell you the truth, I'm probably going to be saying that until Week 8 of this 9 week sew-along, because I really do think that once you get rockin' and rollin' with those curves, you will cruise through at a rate you didn't think possible. If you ever feel lost and want to know what's going on with the sew-along, click the Sew-Along tab underneath the BLOG category in the toolbar.

If you're learning about this sew-along for the first time, jump on board! Here's a a blog post with all of the info you need and below is a quick recap of the schedule:

Give it to me straight, people. How's it going? Are you into curves? Do you feel like this sew-along is helping you sew a quilt pattern you may not have tried otherwise? I have another "potentially tricky" quilt pattern in the works for 2019 and wondering if a sew-along is the most helpful way to go. I'd love to hear your feedback!

I am addicted to curves. I’ve been listening to an audiobook, drinking coffee, sewing curves, and I am never going to stop!

  2. Lindsay says:

This sew along is definitely helping me tackle something I probably never would have tried on my own. Having the videos that walk through the tricky parts has saved a lot of frustration I think I would have had trying to do it all on my own! I’ve definitely expanded my skill set through this process, so thank you!

  3. Sarah Laws says:

The sew-along is definitely helping me stay (mostly) on track to complete a quilt I enjoy, but would have hesitated to try before. And the curves have proved to be an intriguing and enjoyable challenge. Bring on another difficult(ish) one next year!

  4. Liz says:

Yes! I definitely would not have tried this pattern otherwise… I would have underestimated my skills (or over estimated the difficulty level…. maybe both). I love the collaborative community feeling of everyone doing it at once, and the reassurance of extra videos and check-ins. Five stars! Would sew along again!

  5. Pauline M says:

Loving the sew-along. I am on track with sewing my curves but I have discovered I need lots of pins, otherwise I’m ending up with loads of extra fabric on one side. I think I’m stretching the top fabric however hard I try not to. Anyway, pins are working!!

  6. Joyce says:

I have always put off doing curves. I consider myself to be an accomplished quilter but have always disliked curves. so I started the sew along for the challenge. Your tutorials are great and guess what!, I love doing curves!! So much I’ve done a throw & baby size.
Thank you for sharing and can’t wait to see what you have in store for 2019!!

  7. Stef Morris says:

I LOVE this pattern and probably would’ve never attempted it without the SAL. BUT – even though the pattern is awesome – the best part of it is connecting with other quilters, drooling over other quilter’s projects, connecting about life stuff (hi moms with little babies who are also trying to do this SAL!) and answering each other’s questions. No matter what the pattern was, I’d be so in for another SAL in the future… and if it’s a pattern that challenges me more as a quilter, all the better! xoxo

  8. Kelsey says:

Having so much fun! I totally would have been intimidated about this pattern without the sew along and I feel really blessed to participate. Where I live and with my young kiddos there is no way I’d be able to attend a quilting class, but this sew along feels like I’m getting all this instruction and tips and I can access it when it works for me (like when the kiddos are tucked into bed). So thank you! And yes yes! To another sew along!!

  9. Julie (jcat025) says:

I’ve absolutely loved doing this sew along. It’s been the right pace for me, I’ve definitely learned something I wouldn’t have done otherwise and I’ve been inspired by so many creative people from around the world. Big Tick from me for another sew along!
